"Explore In Windows" Add-In for Visual Studio 2005

Update!

This Add-In has been updated. You can read about the updates here

With the release of Visual Studio 2005, I had high hopes that some much-needed, simple features would be added. Alas, they were not. One such feature would be the ability to select a folder or project, right click and see the option to "Explore" in Windows.

I often find myself wanting to see the contents of that folder in Windows for a number of reasons, but there is no easy way to get there shy of navigating manually.

The "Explore In Windows" Add-In is pretty self-explanatory. Right click on a Project, Web Project or Folder > Explore - said folder will open in Windows.

No problem. Always looking for more ideas to improve the IDE :)

VS.Net 2005 has something like this builtin. Right click on an open file's tab and select "Open Containing Folder" and Windows Explorer will fire up.

Still it would have been better if you could do something similar from the Solution Explorer.

Good point, but it doesn't apply for projects or directories within a project.

Heya, cheers for this. Have you though about extending it to include setup projects?

Honestly, it hadn't even crossed my mind. But it's something I'll add for the next release. Check back in a day or two for an updated version.

Not sure that extending this for setup projects is gonna work. In order to add the "Explore" button to the menus, I need to know their names. I can usually get this by looping through all the menus & buttons inside the IDE.

Unfortunately, there is no "Setup Project" menu. In fact, I can't find anything close to that. I'll dig around on the web a bit, try to figure this out, but it's not lookin' good.

Sorry
