Explore in Windows Add-In updated - 1.0.0.2
posted on Sunday, March 11, 2007 by bobby @ 5:15 pm
This is an update I've been meaning to do for some time. This update expands on the initial version in a few ways. Web projects will always be opened in Windows Explorer now, even if the web project was loaded via IIS.

Secondly, the ability to explore an item in Windows Explorer has been added to individual files, solutions, setup projects, and other miscellaneous project types.

Note - if you are using an older version, uninstall before installing new version

What about solution folders? It doesn't look like it supports them yet.

You are correct. From my understanding, a solution folder doesn't seem to map to any real directory on disk but serves more as a virtual directory to group files. I tried parsing through all the properties of the solution folder node item, but it doesn't contain any info regarding a real path.

If there is a way to map a real directory to a solution folder, please divulge - I'll be happy to update.

This might be totally orthogonal to what you're talking about (I don't know anything about what VS allows you to access or anything about its internals), but doesn't $(SolutionDir) point somewhere (in various build-related properties, and when editing .vcproj files, at least)?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to trying this out. It sure sounds useful.

Thank you. I saw this months ago in some video, finally found it! Works like a charm.

I would like to use this add-in, but I'm having trouble installing it. I shut down VS, then ran the installer. The installer seems to work OK, but then when I start up VS, it pops up this error:

The Add-in 'MRU Cleaner by Yellow Cup' failed to load or caused an exception.
Would you like to remove this Add-in?
If you choose yes, you will need to reinstall the Add-in to use it again.

Error Message: Class not registered

Error number: 80040154

I'm running VS 2005 Professional
Version 8.0.50727.762 (SP.050727-7600)
.NET Framework Version 2.0.50727

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike
