Visual Studio 2005 Optimized Font Family
posted on Tuesday, June 06, 2006 by bobby @ 7:06 am
I forgot where I discovered this, but apparently, there is a font family that has been designed & optimized for Visual Studio 2005 called Consolas. I've been testing it out for a few days now and I have to say I'm starting to really like it.

I think Courier New is a great programming font, but I'm starting to totally dig this new font. It's a tad bit smaller than Courier New but I guess that just means more code fits on the screen - heh.

Here's a screenshot of the font in use for all you skeptics out there:

Gravy. Couple things, cool to see cool extensions written as packages, and rare to find many other folks doing it.

I was looking for an email address so I could ask you for a resume, didn't find it, so I'm asking here :-)

I've been running these fonts for about a week now, and I'm very delighted to have found them.
Thanks!

Also, was your blog created by iWeb?

Thanks,
sam

No, not iWeb. I originally used Blogger bout a year and half ago. I wasn't happy w/ the flexbility and basic lack of functionality, so now it's running on custom written C# code - really the only way I could get full control of the framework. Plus, it's a fun project - in the middle right now of re-writing most of it for AJAX functionality and some other cool shiznit.

The screen print looked good, so I downloaded the font, but it doesn't look so good on my display. How do I revert back to the default font?????

Just go to Tools > Options > Environment > Fonts And Colors to change the display to any font.

Font is definitely more space-efficient. However, on a 1920x1200 LCD the fonts look a little fuzzy. Is this a ClearType thing, or... what?

i strongly believe so, i went to microsoft site for cleartype adjusting, and i'm in love. :-)

ClearType blows! At least at 1280x1024 its way too fuzzy.
